Pre-Birthday Humpday Triviola

In honor of my birthday tomorrow I think I'll do a multi-question in order to award more Golden Unis.

1. A lot of timber is cut every in the US for various uses. Percentage wise, how does the amount of standing timber in the US compare today to the amount in 1952?

2. US forest land makes up what percentage of the total land area of the US?

3. In the next 50 years it is estimated that the US will lose 17 million acres of forest to what?

In my humble opinion, she is cuter than Thomas though. (Sorry Thomas, but that is the way it is ;-))

Sigh

Yep...I know. But if I were good looking then none of my clients would take me seriously as a woodworker. ;-)

One out of three correct!

Sorry, can't give you credit for #2. You gave me the ownership percentage of forested land. I'm looking for the percentage of all US land that is forest.

However....you win one of the Golden Unis for being correct on question #3. Urban sprawl will eat up quite a bit of forests in the coming decades.

Actually she leans towards her Granpa in both brains and beauty. She knows how to program the DVR thingamabob.

Yep!

Correctamundo....about 1/3 of the US is covered by forest. And I am definitely living in the other 2/3!

Last Answer....

I gotta log off early so I'll toss out the answer to #1. The answer is that the amount of standing timber in the US today compared to 1952 is 30% greater.

Thanks for playing folks!

What is the definition of Forest land?

I live in an comprised mainly of western Juniper, maybe 25-30 trees per acre. Is that considered forest land?
