A certain mathematician had four children, all boys. She named the first two Alpha and Gamma, and the fourth one Fred.

What was the name of her third son.

I don't think so

But I'm no physicist. The only interpretation I can come up with for your answer is Delta(a). What is the physicists' shorthand for increase in acceleration?

This third son has a very unusual name, seldom heard (as a name) outside of the context of baseball.

Literally. It's apparent from your question. I don't know is not the third but third as well.
