Thursday Trivia

All are aware of Obama's racial minority status. But he is also a member of two other minorities (not necessarily legally defined or protected), both of which are common for US Presidents.

One is a very large minority that has contributed all US Presidents in history, but for the first time was at real risk of being overthrown by the majority this last election cycle.

The second is a much smaller (~10%) minority that has dominated the US Presidency of late -- five of the last seven US Presidents have been a member of this minority, and in 1992, all three candidates (GHW Bush, Clinton, and H.Ross Perot) were members of this minority.

What two minorities am I thinking of?

No

Perot graduated from US Naval Academy. I don't believe either Clinton or GHW Bush did.

They are Lefties

with some that refers to their preference to which hand they use predominately

Answer

Ken nailed the second one. John was close, but had it backwards: It is Carter's and BushII's dexter nature that keeps them from fitting in with the sinister lot of Ford, Reagan, BushI, Clinton, and Obama. And as in 1992, we were virtually assured a left-handed president this year, since McCain is also a lefty. Before Ford, only Garfield, Hoover, and Truman were southpaws.

Ed touched on the larger minority--all US Presidents have been male.

Explain yourself

Now that the answer has been revealed, please explain. I just know this is going to be one of those "I can't believe I didn't see that" things, but curious minds want to know...

I was thinking of the very exclusive

and elusive Bohemian Grove gathering in July (and other times) on many acres of private land deep in the Northern California woods. While some privacy has been lost, there is no question that all of the personages mentioned are either members or have been speakers there. Much of what is written about the place are guesses, half truths, and there is much speculation about the goings on, but it exists and has been around for a while. Powerful people with strong agendas are invited.
