TGI Humpday!

I'm getting ready for some over-eating, unzipping of pants and watching football...so here are some related questions:

Turkeys are among some of the fatest flying birds (well the wild ones are). So how fast can they fly?

What was the weight of the largest recorded turkey?

Do all turkeys gobble?

As God is my witness...

... I thought Turkeys could fly!

I think I heard on the news the other day how fast, and was incredulous to the speed they quoted.

The heaviest turkey was the one we had for Thanksgiving in 1975. Due to its enormous weight it couldn't be lifted out of the oven and fell immediately to the floor, consequently being assailed by our attack Dachshund.

No not all Turkeys gobble, they simply peck.

I don't know about flying but I know they can Trot. Also they have been known to run. There is a big Turkey Run at Daytona every year.I guess they can fly because I have always said "It is difficult to soar like an Eagle when surrounded by Turkeys".

Let me try this once again. Posted here earlier but it has disappeared(?).

Seem's on the History channel the other night they said turkey fly at 35 mph. Let other's answer the rest. Thanks for the question.

Actually *LINK*

The flying speed is about the same as that of an unladen swallow.

(Ducking and running ;-))

What if the Swallow is carrying a coconut?

Answers to "Burning Turkey Questions"

Sorry folks but I'm logging off and may not log back in until after my "turkey hangover" is gone. So I'll go ahead and post the answers.

Wild turkeys are no turkeys when it comes to speed. They can fly short distances at up to 55 MPH!

The largest turkey weighed in at 86 lbs in London. Lord knows how much stuffing that bird could carry.

And not all turkeys gobble. Only the Tom Turkeys gobble.

And since I am "Tom" I guess I'll gobble off into the Holiday sunset. Have a great Thanksgiving all!

Tom
