A little bit early, so hope no one answers it before midnight;-)
This is a picture question: What is in this picture? There is a wood connection, and just as a hint, it has nothing to do with mushrooms or fungi of any kind. (just sorta looks that way.)
is Ken got it close, as in leaf cross section and surface. At first I was thinking wood, but did not see the ray cells, and the upper surface does not look like wood, at least not to me. So I think it's a cross section of a leaf, or another part from a woody plant. As far as what are the mushroom looking items: WAG again, fruiting bodies of some type.
are called trichomes. Seem to have several functions, one function is some of the trichomes can secrete goop and wrap around microscopic insect and trap them. Thanks for the brain work, Dan.
