Two clarifications

Probably already assumed, but just to keep anyone from going down an offbeat track:

The capacity of the beakers is given in fluid ounces, not ounces of gold that will fit in them!

The water available is standard specific gravity of eight pounds per gallon.

But we are in agreement on the solution.

1 Troy ounce (used for precious metals) = 480 grains

1 Avoidupois ounce (the common ounce used for "normal" measure) = 437.5 grains

4oz(A) = 4*437.5/480 oz(T)

I tried to hide this puzzle in the beaker puzzle, without much success. Another version is "Which weighs more, an ounce of gold or an ounce of feathers?"

My take

Fill both containers with water, find a chair, sit back and relax, drink the water and wait until tomorrow because the gold will be woorth a lot more by noon.
