Jeez, start, or rather where to start.

I'm not sure I'd want to be your student. Since no letter repeats and there are 24 letters that means from the list that Q and X are not included. And for sure, one face of the four blocks has to have as one of the faces a 1C,2A,3V,4E. No other block can contain those letters so this is to be a problem of elimination. I need a grid of four columns with six rows. And I need a big eraser. Also from the list P and A cannot be on the same cube, nor F and A. And F can�t be on the same cube as C or with E. W cannot be with blocks that have E, R, or G. K cannot be with I, T, or H. H cannot be on the same block as A,Z, or Y. U has to be on a different block than F,L, or B. It's the matchups I'm missing. This will take a while.

Cube 4 E and (B =flub or U?)(Y works if U is on one)

So far so good but only nine of 24 seem to fit all the time and I'm confusing myself each time I go back for verification. It should be getting easier, but I now am questionioning all but the first four. This is stranded on island thought.

Congrats. How did you break it out? What guided you to lead with ABCF and DEHG? I couldn't get to some of those letters in column two or especially three - LKJI. Did you make a matrix?

"What guided you to lead with ABCF and DEHG?" I didn't. I started with CAVE and rearranged the letters alphabetically after solving (easier for Dan to check). :)

"Did you make a matrix?" Yes, I started with a grid of text boxes (in QuarkExpress just because I have it and use it daily), 4 wide and 7 high, thusly:

[_] [fl] [fl] [_] clef

[fr] [_] [fr] [_] fare

which tells me:

[C] [A] [V] [E] cave

[R] [L] [F] [_] and so on ...
