(It is not a candle). Apparently independently rediscovering a technology used by a German company, he by the 1840�s produced the best of these�even better than those of the British and French who were considered the best at this owing to geoglogy.
He called himself a teacher, surveyor, carpenter among other occupations. But his landlord wrote that his "fault" was ��he had no ambition.�
