Well, for a change it isn't raining and there are no tornados in sight. Lord knows we need the break here in the heartland!
But with the sun out, of course comes the heat. A well placed shade tree can help cool your house. But how much can an average well placed shade tree actually cool your house? I'm looking for a percentage.

Bullseye...The answer...
Dale paid attention in his Urban Forestry class, thus earning him a golden Uni for knowing that a shade tree can cut cooling by 20%.
So if you have a tree that shades your house, don't cut it down for lumber! ;-)
