I'm running late today....busy day ahead. I'm setting up my show at the gallery today so I won't be on the Bozo-puter much. But I'll drop off this question and check back later.
The Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition was a great event. As part of the event a noteworthy woodworking endeavor was undertaken. What was it?

There is a little known fact about the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition. Originally, they wanted to put it on a section of land that was habitat to the Istry tree owl. Conservations tried to convince them that other sites were more suitable but could not convince the organizers. In a compromise, the organizers decided to contruct a building dedicated to Istry tree owl conservation. In honor of the owls, the building was created with over 50 rough hewn logs and was over 200 feet long and 100 feet wide. They were going to call the building the "For Conservation of the Istry Tree Owl Building" but budget concerns caused them to cut back on letters on the sign. It ended up being called the "For Istry Building".
