Re: Monday Answer
Mondays answer is KEEN KUTTER, Simmons/Shapleigh Hardware of St. Louis who retailed their own branded stuff--from tools, to kids wagons, and kitchen utensils and equipment. Their original 1800's products were sharp steel items (knives, axes,) so the logo was a simulated ax head with a razor type font over it to illustrate sharpness.
I appreciated Johns early Stanley reference even though it was incorrect. John still gets a gold star for the second go round.
Keen Kutters most endearing slogan was The reflection of quality remains long after the price is forgotten." Simmons /Shipleighs catalogs marketed one the first attempts at making the buyer feel pride by his selection of tools.
Anyway, Toms response was fun. Using Ronco's Mr. Microphone, Hey good lookin Ill be back and pick you up later Tom gets his imaginary choice of a Ginsu, dehydrator, egg in the shell, pocket fisherman, veg, dial, or barbeque-o-matic, a can of head paint to cover unsightly bald spots, a cap snaffler, or a smokeless ashtray. But wait, theres more. Sorry Tom, but Ronco filed for belly up in June 2007, so no matter the selection, each of the "lifetime warranties" is gone.
