Short Day today. Bill then Tom earned forehead stars. I wasn't sure which way to go with "knotty" but opted for the naval term rather than the pine description. The answer is Naval Stores. Naval Stores is a broad term which originally applied to the resin-based components used in building and maintaining wooden sailing ships, a category which includes cordage, turpentine, rosin, pitch (resin) and tar. Today, the term applies to all products derived from pine sap, which are used to manufacture stuff ranging from soap, paint, varnish, shoe polish, lubricants, linoleum, and related.
