I hate multiple winners because I have to decide who gets what portion of a golden Uni after I divide it into equal portions!

Springboards are used in timbersport competitions.

Springboard

The competitor uses two spring boards to ascend to the top of a nine foot pole and chop a firmly attached 12" diameter block from the top of the pole. The block must be chopped from both sides.

Thanks for the link to the pictures, Dale. I really like seeing the one log, truck load. I grew up seeing the old springboard holes in tall stumps. They maybe hard to find now though. I know there were places where "they" went back through and re-cut some of those old stumps.

Thanks for the follow up. I should have included that springboards were not just used for timbersports but were valuable tools for logging in the past. That picture really tells the story.
