Thursday Trivia

The style of the back on the chair in the attached picture was developed early in the 18th century and was a favorite of Chippendale and contemporaries. What is the style called?

Could it be?

From your clues the word I believe you are searching for is ribbon. However, my understanding is that the term for the chair is "ribband" and referred to the back splat carved section where the wood is carved in a in/out wavy design.

;-) It is ribband, but it comes from the word ribbon.
