The answer is different if you compare an ounce of gold to an ounce of rosewood.

OK, Using The Troy Weight System For Precious
metals a pound equals 12 troy ounces. A troy ounce is slightly more than a normal ounce but not enough so that 12 troy ounces weigh more than 16 normal ounces. Therefore the pound of rosewood will weigh more.
