Im looking for a boat building material not of solid wood and would be classified as a marine plywood. It has a tighter grain, and a dark, consistent color. When finished with epoxy, top coated with varnish, the texture of the wood doesn't generally show on the finish, like it might with other marine plywoods. It is more dense than Fir or Meranti, which makes it a little heavier. What is the name of this material? Aside from the above, what else makes it a good selection for the application? Bonus inquiry. According to a web source, what is the leading cause of failure in boats of marine plywood. (Note. Delamination is the result not the cause.)
