Some random trivia

I haven't posted here much lately, but I ran across this tidbit the other day.

The oldest building in the United States outside of New York City, that is at least 12 stories tall, has a wood connection. What and where is the building, and what is the connection?

Hint, the building is not made of wood.

Re: Some random trivia

The question has so many possibilities it has me addled. I think the basis has to do with potting soil but there are also ties to train cars, retail, and entertainment.
