Answer
Due to the overwhelming response to this Trivia question the answer is-- Bert bell was awarded an NFL Franchise in the 1930's. He was impressed with the Blue Eagle that was the logo used for the National Recovery Act passed early in the New Deal program created by FDR so he named the team Eagles. The act proved to be a flop, possibly a forewarning of the plight of the Philadelphia Eagles, and was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1935. By the way I am a N.Y. Giant fan who has become a fan of Tampa Bay Buccaneers since moving to Florida. Todays temp. here in Sunny St. Cloud is a reminder of New York in January.
