Thursday trivia

See if you can answer this without Google first ;-)

In several sports, there is a traditional trophy given to the last place team. What is this trophy?

Re: Thursday trivia

Is it named after a sea-bird?

Re: Thursday trivia

Well, perhaps, but..... (a sorta hint)

Not if you are thinking of an albatross ;-) This is at least tangentially related to woodworking. (at least something made of wood)

Re: Thursday trivia

No, another hint

It is actually an object that most people probably have in their homes right now. (At least a generic version ;-))

Re: Thursday trivia

Well, in the Iditarod it is the Red Lantern. I guess only the musher cares, not the dog team.

Re: Thursday trivia

Nope ;-) another hint

Not too long ago, there was a thread where many people were making these. It was on the hand tool board I believe. I ran across this looking for something else. I never would have guessed it. Google can be your friend here. ;-)

Re: Thursday trivia

Well I think I know what you are talking about. But, what the WC folks called it was not what I was used to it being called. I cannot recall either name. You are talking about the block of wood with two perpendicular dovetailed ways and a handle attached to the two dovetail keys. You crank like an ol' time ice cream maker and think or do nothing. Did WC folks call it aroundtoit. I'd call it a watchmadoit, : ' >.

Thanks for the ? Dale

Re: Thursday trivia

Still correct

It is a Watts drill that makes a square hole. It is based on the same shape as the Mazda rotors.
