In the 1930's, the first modern artificial Christmas trees were manufactured. What was the main product of the companies that made them?

I'm going to guess the main trunk and brances were wood? Could the needles of been cellophane, a wood product. Thanks a million for the week-end question. Dale

One of the main manufacturers normally made toilet brushes. There are probably some that could get some kind of a kick out of that, depending on what they think of artificial trees ;-)
