Thursday trivia

Going to start this one off with a bit of obscurity so as not to give it away ;-)

What is something that a Coastal Redwood and the space shuttle have in common?

I had another answer, but....

It might be deemed insensitive, so I won't bother with it.

Re: Thursday trivia

Is the rule 32 box tiled? Seems it needs some heat resistance...

A bit more detail

Heat shielding is what I was looking for. The bark of a coastal redwood is very thick, as much as a foot in places. And it exhibits an unusual property when exposed to fire- it chars into a heat shield. It actually turns into a pretty effective ablative, similar to the way a heat shield on a re-entry vehicle works.
