30 years ago I could recite them in my sleep. (That happens when your Art History professor is Greek.)

The only one I remember now is Pycnostyle = 1.5 diameters. There was also a Systyle and a Diastyle.

My copy of Gardener is on the shelf nearby. I'll hold off and give someone else a chance.

I�m glad you said at least six because I�ve heard quite a few. As you know different countries have different terms and, of course it absolutely depends on who is in the conversation. The civilized colonnade spacing terms I�m most familiar with are: �itldo�, �close enough�, �a smidge off�, �screwed up�, �really screwed up�, and �tear it out.� These don't refer to colonade spacing but are related--"crooked" and "upside down" come to mind. I�m told that there are two additional terms called �correct� and �right� but I�ve never experienced that type of spacing myself.

These styles describe the relationship of column diameter to the intercolumniation (space between the columns)

Pycnostyle = 1.5 Diameters

Systyle = 2 Diameters

Eustyle = 2.25 Diameters

Diastyle = 3 Diameters

Arostyle >= 4 Diameters

Arosystyle refers to pairs of systyle spaced columns separated by arostyle spacing.
