Yes, Google is supposed to be putting in a center that will hire about 1000 people or so. It is about 10-15 miles from me.
The answer
Thomas was on the right track, it is an osteotome, which is basically the first chainsaw, although it was developed for cutting bone. It was invented around 1830 by the German, Bernard Heine. The ones for woodcutting came a bit later, but use the same principles.
