Midsummer Classic Humpday Triviola
Well, doggone it, my Nationals found another way to blow yet another All Star game. Will I live long enough to see the Nationals win? Who knows? But in honor of the tradition of baseball I offer the following:
This player played between 1939 and 1960. He had a nickname that ALL of us can relate to but maybe not so enthusiastically so. Who is the player and what was his nickname?

Will wait to answer until after surgery later today. Can't sit comnfortably because I have a splinter in my posterior from a wooden bench I sat on while visiting Boston. Going to have it removed by my doctor, Dr. Williams. Ooooh it hurts!!!!

OK, so both he and his brothers career were over before 1960. I just thought I'd mention him. I used to like those funny tales he told to fill in air time.
...and those tall tales like the one about when he went Dove hunting down in Texas. He was announcing a game one weekend and they hit a little spell in there where he needed to fill air (TV) time. He mentioned he had been dove hunting in Texas that past wendesday. Dizzy went on with something like this, "Yes. I had a wonderful time down there in Texas with my buddy shooting doves. Never shoot so much in my life. We finally just run out of shells and had to quit. Why we put so much lead in the air that day, the doves were still falling two days later when I left Dallas".

I believe he is now known as "The Arizona Popsicle". ;-) Just kidding.
