Monday , Back to Work

On log cabins the ends of the logs can be staggered or flush cut. Usually the ends are cut straight, perpendicular to the length of the log but sometimes the ends are tapered looking as if they were a pointed stick. Out west they call this a _______ cut. What is the name of the cut?

A pain is likely, but nothing regal I can think of.
