I have an old lumber price list from Dunn Lumber. I will give you some of the prices and you can guees what year it was from. By the way the prices were current as of Feb 2 of the year year in question. These prices were available to the general public. My job at that time was building engineer.

Kiln dried Spruce framing lumber premium #2 and better

2"X6"X10' $6.02 2"X6"X16' $9.63

2"X8"X10' $6.76 2"X8"X16' $13.52

Pressure treated Outdoor Wood .40CCA

2"X6"X10' $8.30 2"X6"X16' $13.82

2"X8"X10' $12.32 2"X6"X16' $21.47

OSB strand board sheathing 3/4"X4'X8' $12.90

CDX plywood Sheathing 1/2"X4'X8' $10.88

I can't put a year on it but those prices would be good for mid to late 70's.

As for a guess to year 1976. ...or '78 .....or some other years.

I'm with Basil on this one. We sold those things cheaper in the '50's and '60's but inflation caused by LBJ started kickin' in by the '70's.

I guess it's just us old heads......

....that remember the inflation of the 70's. Plywood and lumber more than doubled, cost of homes doubled and mortgage rates went to 14% and more. Off road diesel fuel went from 15.9 cent a gallon in oct. '74 to 139.9 by late '78. .....and if you called for a price, that was "todays" price, tomorrow it may be higher. If you were pricing work or signing contracts, say only 60 days into the future, you had to have caveats in there to cover inflation. ...and sometimes that wasn't enough to CYA. I lost mine...LOL...but I was luckier than some, I didn't stick anyone. Got stuck, but didn't pass it on.

Prices on some things came way down in the 80's but never returned to the same level they had been.

Some 1968 prices.

I'm certain of these prices. I was building my house in spring of '68.

All the framing was kiln dried SYP...$80 a thoudand delivered.

Kiln dried 2x4 White pine studs...39 cent each...same in SYP was cheaper.

Bricks...$45 per thousand....delivered ...there were some cheaper.

Lay bricks...$35 per thousand...It was running $35 to $40 back then.

4'x8' 1/2" exterior sheating grade plywood was $3.25 a sheet.

Concrete was $18 a cu.yd.

County water tap fee was $35 and monthly water bill minimum of $3

215'x185' corner lot...$600

235# asphalt shingles $3.50 per sq. and $2.50 per sq. to put them on.

That's about all I can remember.
