Friday Filler

After a recent storm, some waterfront residents found that a 2 acre island had been washed ashore in their back-yards.

How did this happen?

What kind of equipment did they use to relocate the island back offshore?

An oversized Tom Sawyer raft?

I have been to lakes in the Northeast that have "floating" islands made of peat. Basically they are huge mats of Sphagnum moss that have other plants growing on them and are not attached to the bottom of the lake. They can even move around in stiff winds. Is this anything like what you are asking about?
