Are you feeling ignored? Jove sounds Roman to me. I believe my 'Danish' hi-fi (tells you how old it was) cabinet was made of wood from this nut-bearing tree.

You have the origin of the term correct. As far as your hi-fi cabinet...I'm not sure. We may be thinking of two different Danish Woods. Care to be specific?

Walnut trees were highly valued in ancient Europe. Greek invaders carried the seeds and planted them from Italy to their northern outposts. The Romans valued the trees so much they called them "The nuts of Jove" afetr their top ranking diety.
