Washington's dentures (he had numerous pairs) were made from many things. Hippopotamus ivory; various animal's teeth and even human teeth; gold, lead, etc. and they were typically held in his mouth with springs. Okay, that's the end of my knowledge. As to who manufactured them, I called a friend who is a dentist and now know that there were numerous people who made them for him including, reportedly, silversmith Paul Revere. Most notable was a Dr. John Greenwood of Philadelphia the preeminent "dentist" of the time.

Correct on all counts!

Greenwood was the maker. Hippo ivory and gold was the material for his "main set".
