OT - Greenhouse Floor

#1

I would like to get a greenhouse. I live in the northeast so it will be a project for next spring. There are lots of greenhouse kits out there that look pretty good. So, my question is what to do about the floor. The place where I will be putting it is in my back yard and currently part of the lawn. I am 84 so I would like a solution that does not require a lot of strenuous work. Any suggestions?

Stripping sod is very hard work. Why not a sod floor?

There are heavy rubber mats that are intended for use in horse stalls that might be an alternative. They are perforated to allow water to pass through. I use them in my workshop to for cushioning my feet from the concrete floor.

We put up a 10' x 16' kit greenhouse a couple of years ago. We had an excavating contractor come in with a mini ex, he dug out the perimeter deep enough to put a foundation of two deep pressure treated 6x6 in and stripped the interior topsoil.  We then had him dump in a small dump trailer load of pea stone, which we spread out prior to assembling the greenhouse. We are happy with the pea stone floor.
