This is a term used when describing wood that seems to have various definitions. Have you heard of it? If so, how would you define it?

Having a sawmill, I define it as log that's been squared up ready to produce dimensioned lumber.

A bundle of planks arranged, as milled, from a single log.

two different versions above. I'm surprised to find that google image will return a good bit of both. I've always thought of the squared long as a cant, well at least within the time frame I've been woodworking. 

Couldn't have told you the natural color of walnut when I was 22 other than what the middle of the tree looked like when you are cutting it to be turned into firewood.

Anyway, a boule would be potential for several flitches. 

I think there's an old saying...snitches get flitches. Or mess with the boule and you'll get corns?
