Mission style speaker stands

I like them! Modern takeoffs on the Craftsman and Mission styles are a welcome relief from the sometimes visually ponderous early Craftsman and Frank Lloyd Wright pieces. Yours retain materials and dimensions similar to the period pieces, but are lighter visually. Are they solid enough without any connectors to stiffen the construction?

They look good. How tall are they, and what speakers go on top?  Have you given thought to connecting the base to the floor - hardwood floor vs carpet - such as the use of spikes?

There is a preferred height for listening. My stands are 26" high, and made for Kef LS50 Meta speakers. These are smaller "bookshelf" style speakers, used with a separate subwoofer (Kef KC62), and best for near-field listening. The minimalist style of the speakers and their stands fits with our furniture style as well. I do like Mission furniture as well, and understand why you built yours as there is nothing out there similar.

Clearly, Derek has no cats, dogs, or kids else those speakers would not last a week upright.

Dave, no kids any more. I miss my dogs. The speaker columns are filled with lead shot and weigh a ton!

Thanks to all. They're construction feels very solid, I have to wait for warm weather to apply a finish. We have Parrots and the boss (aka wife) doesn't allow staining in the basement shop due to any odors. I've never had the chance to hear the Kef brand. How do you like them for two channel sound. We have the Paradigm Studio 100v4 fronts, matching center, Studio 20's on the stands for surrounds and Definitive Tech sub. Oh I forgot, they are 28" tall to raise them to about the height of the fronts.
