Fish Bat

#1

Has anyone ever made a fish bat (game priest)? What dimensions did you use? Did you drill out the business end and put in a metal weight? My son-in-law would like me to make one and I have no experience with them.

Thanks

John

If you are talking about a small bat to smack a Salmon or bigger fish when you catch them.  Then I have.  I used oak then wrapped the handle in para cord.  No weight needed.  I made them about 15 inches long.

Not trying to discourage your turning projects, but I just use an old hickory hammer handle, minus the hammer head of course.  I agree, no weight needed.  Having a cord you can put around your wrist might be handy and keep you from losing it overboard if you get aggressive.
