I'm off on a wander in England right now

#1

I'm making my way across the south coast now from Penzance to wherever I get when my time runs out. I can recommend Chester quite highly and Penzance is great if for nothing else than St. Michael's Mount. Plymouth was, ahhh, not the best and Poole was pretty boring. Right now I'm in Portsmouth and I visited the museum yesterday afternoon and they have some furniture to die for. Here is one piece that literally could not be built now, at least not legally. A cabinet on stand made of literal ebony and ivory.

Weather is drizzly but I'm headed out to see what I can since I'm headed east on another train tomorrow morning. Hope to make it to Hastings before I need to head north for my flight home.

Cool vacation!

That piece in the image reminds me of current furniture exhibits.

Wow, that is quite the piece. Do you know/recall when it was made?

I tried to post a reply yesterday but it seems that it didn't take. I'll give it another go although the information is very sparse. I should have found a docent to ask about it while I was there.
