Rustic modern?

#1

Peter Martin

A modern bath with shiny new tiles and plumbing. Then add some pottery sinks on a rustic table, and for the pièce de résistance, hang some crooked logs from the ceiling.

I feel an evil laugh coming on, followed by a brutal social comment aimed at interior designers and Architects.
Should I seek therapy ?

who gets to clean the slick yucky moldy stuff that forms around the bottoms of the bowls? it's obviously a bathroom designed -  if a men's version - for men who place a lot of value in clothes that show the brand on the outside, and who look several times at themselves before leaving the bathroom...

....but they'll be frustrated by the undersized mirrors. I'm assuming that picture is an AI generated thing, though. No?

It doesn't need to be AI. For many years perspectives have been created by PhotoShop. This one has that disproportionate
badly shadowed mess.

And, yes, never fear, function will always fail them because students show off those queasy monstrosities. I live in a county that has all of the new libraries designed by one firm. Half of the urinals work only for giants. Seriously.

this kind of concept stuff is about as good as concept cars - it sells great in pictures in magazines, I'm sure, especially if it's used to draw attention to something else.

But nobody would want to drive a concept car on a daily basis if it was anything more than a different skin on an already reliable car.

I'm unfamiliar with anything designed by a kitchen center, contractor etc, where software (photoshop involved or not) would be involved - just due to thrift.

I am not unfamiliar with the mrs trotting over a picture from a magazine aimed at who knows what (interior decorators? potential paint buyers at lowes?) and saying "why can't you make something that looks like this?"

If this was a real bathroom I would be emboldened to try peeing on the logs, confident in the knowledge that at least some of the back splash would be caught in the hand basins. Or I would leave a beaver from Wisconsin in there for a week and let nature turn it in to something useful.
I can speak highly of Wisconsin beaver. From extensive experience. Oregon beaver ?
To far gone. Wisconsin beaver will go harder and longer in places most Beaver fears to tread. As long as your running when the Dam bursts its worth the farmers wrath.
