Quiet desperation.

You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it deep down.
Everyone's going to die but how many really lived ? Sure, you can do it by the book. Follow the rules and be a " good law abiding citizen". Or at least put up the appearance of being one.
But the truth is most sell their soul cheap to a system that abuses every hole in your body and worst of all, the one in your chest where your soul was beaten half to death by school, religion and taxes.
Or the military where they give you coloured ribbons and make you a " hero" for launching strikes against huddled civilians as often as deserving combatants.
We make prostitutes look brave and honest.
Actually compared to a great many they are are just that.
So what do men do when their life is
empty ? They try to make something. Something real. Something that wasn't a party piece, social status symbol or penis enlarger.
They never did the vision quest. They never proved themselves under a cold night sky with a crude Spear whittled and hardened in a camp fire. All these men have ever known is knowing their place. In the meat grinding whore we call civilisation.
We condemn the women forced in to prostitution by the very pillars of the community that raped them as innocent children. The Mason's. The Rotarians. The lawyer's and corporate Hyenas.
And here we are at the crossroads.
Facing WW3 to satisfy their blood lust. Their arrogance. Their ego.
What use our sheds then ?
What will our children think of us for refusing to stand against these scum ?
Nothing to say except ban Maurice ?
See if I give a flying Fk.

You know what saddens me most ? Anonymous snearing emojis by those who don't have the wit or wisdom to back up their
Cheap shots. The kind of gutless trolls who never left mom's basement or held down an honest job.

I've been meaning to get that book.
Captain zero fucks ignores feeling's again !
Captain zero fucks tries to warn fool's against poor decisions and gets ignored.
Captain zero fucks says. You fucked it, you fix it.
That's the basic work flow pattern anyway..

You can't put brains in statue's.
" Put the wheel down. It's perfectly round already !" For fks sake. Lol.

" Why didn't you warn me ? "
" I did, but you knew better ".

I learned long ago to (mostly) choose to not be stressed.  It's led to a lot of years of doing what I can, when I can, and not giving a second thought to stuff outside of that.  That might lead to more stress in others, but that is a them problem, not a me problem.

(spend time with kids, apply themselves at work, do something for someone else? Volunteer?)

>>They try to make something. Something real. Something that wasn't a party piece, social status symbol or penis enlarger.<<

(I'd bet some pretty solid craftsmen made wimpies in the old days)

>> The Rotarians. <<

I played baseball for those men and women! They were pretty tame.

how about one on a penny farthing if you don't want to give one that flies?

this level of not caring seems very effortful.

I hear all that Jason. My wife is smart enough to appreciate that when I say " Sorry darling but I'm not going to budge on this one" there is a good reason for it.
She's smart. Like me, she is pretty patient and forgiving but you will only screw her over once and that's it. You will get both barrels in the face. Then we walk away because stress is a waste of time and we have better things to focus on.
A man needs his shed and some space to be himself. I'm not a people pleaser or appeaser. Freedom is not caring about the opinions of other's. My bike doesn't argue. It gives me the road. My tools give me a livelihood on my terms.
Man's gotta be himself.

Okay. I'm trying to decode this comment but I could use some more clarity.
Perhaps you could illustrate your points a little more ?
I care about my family. I protect my family.
I am fortunate to have a network of friends who look out for each other.
But trust is earned not given.
If people are offended by my opinions that's fine. I'm not hurt by their offence.
If anyone was stupid enough to threaten my family, God help them. Otherwise no, I'm not liable or responsible for other people's shit.
Nor will I be coerced in to taking it on.
BUT I do reserve the right to speak freely and if the cause is just, stand and fight.
Because without freedom life becomes miserable. Coward's hide behind rules. Real men walk away from fool's.
