It's a peculiar British tradition to give machine's names. Mrs Zippy is a Taiwanese made Delta press. I had a name for another machine. It was called " The B!tch". It was a Delta radial arm saw. Actually we had a lot of names for it. None of them complimentary.
Anyway, by and large Delta used to make good drill presses. The America made version of this infinitely variable speed machine was very nice. Saved a lot of time changing belts.
The Aussie's have an excellent home made brand of press called Parken. Superb quality.
In point o fact shipmates I've bin keepin' a weather eye out for one sometime since.
But it's a rare lass in the southern hemisphere. As fine a pillared beauty as yeve never clapped eye's on afore now.
I'll wager the scurvy dog who stole the last one from under me glass eye was some blasted ships carpenter from Melbourne.
May he rot slowly in Davey Jones locker !
So it's back to me little Taiwanese ceiling inspector for a fresh dose of the clap and a hard night on the shoreline matey !
Argh.
Mrs Zippy Delta drill press.
