Well I got called everything except a Christian. Apparently I'm a Troll, an AI, a narcissist, a delusional soul with mental health issue's or even a stranger from another planet.....Wow. And all because I showed them real picture's.
Usually the worst vitriol comes from Carpenter's who, of all the woodworking trades tend these days to being over sensitive to the fact that their skills are largely confined to the nail gun and drinking to excess. This need not be the case but particularly when they visited pipe organ shops you could see the jealous looks on their face. Snide comments were interjected between critical down the nose peering behind the case work as if to say
" yeah but I could have done it better than that myself !"
Yeah mate sure you could. Lol.
No surprises to find then that it's nearly always the Chippies that tag team anyone who puts them in shade. Not hard to do when the skills of my Grandfathers generation are no longer practised.
This petty envy was nothing new to my trade. We got the vinegar treatment from many quarters.
This vicious attitude is very common. The more highly skilled you are, the less likely you will be welcome in the wider community.
But even worse, when you muscle in on their trade and build a timber frame and build your own quality windows. Makes their prefabbed stick frame look like what it is.
McHomes. Overpriced disposable Ikea quality.
THAT was the real last straw. That was when the Hyenas had to paint me with every vicious comment they could drag up WITHOUT ANY MODERATION from the mods. Double standard much ?
The tragedy lies in the fact that they are stabbing fellow tradespeople in the back.
Most shop guys could not be further from the slander painted on us by site Carpenter's.
We don't snort cocaine, couldn't afford it on our pittance of a wage.
We are generally very quiet introverts who are happy to just get on with it. We don't drive big trucks and swagger around.
We don't boast about multi million dollar contracts for such and such a celeb.
I could say a lot more about the building trade but they know we know.
The caste system exists in every walk of life.
Plying my own trade against the odds makes me forum enemy number one !
Building a house that will last three hundred years instead of thirty ?
Unforgivable.
Finding a mortiser and rebuilding it from scratch while they fire up the compressor on another building site ? Grrrr.
Everybody gets what they want.
But the bitterest pill ? Me trying to share valuable knowledge and being spat on.
They banned me before I even had a chance to defend myself. That is cowardice, arrogance and classic narcissistic behaviour.
I'd tell them to look in the mirror but they already do. To cut a fresh line.
Now of course, not all Carpenter's are like that. But I've worked with more than a few that had drug and drink problems. They have no restraint. Violent outbursts are very common. Never ever saw one in a workshop except from a French polisher who was addicted to meth.
So will I get booted from here for having a chip on my shoulder ? Let's find out I guess.

The Carpenter's are upset. Again.
This is why so few highly skilled woodworker's post on forum's.
You hobby guy's are the biggest loosers in this toxic equation because you could learn so much.
