#2Most here have only seen my doggy steps to the bed. When I saw her jump onto a couch, I immediately cut back her Gabapentin prescription. She had torn the equivalent of an ACL. Maybe, one of those poor dears is missing a KFC piece.
As a student I was deeply impressed by a professional who had submitted a cat house for a national award. It took a few years to understand his motivation.

Sometimes it's the very simplest of projects that derive the most satisfaction Bruce.
We love our chicken's. Our first chook house was made of recycled pallets because money was tight. Yes that bad.
I designed this after my grandfathers design's though not as busy as his. He had two houses in a fenced run. Ours are free range. This house got blown over last week but it survived. I Sugiban treated it with a blow torch. It's got an electric door on it now.
I made it as light as possible so I could lift it with the tractor.
The weather board is Russian Baltic pine fixed with square drive stainless screws.
The front door is hinged so it's easy to clean out. The nesting boxes obviously on the side. Works fine.
We ditched the ramp. The chickens just hop up on to the door anyway. Makes it more fox resistant too.

Growing up, we had small coops like this on the farm, built by my father before we were born, or maybe even his father. Five as I recall. They were larger, maybe 10'x10' with windows and a normal human-sized door. More like little cabins than chicken coops. In fact, my older brother converted one into a actual cabin (boy cave?) with a bed, wood stove, desk, etc. They were mounted on logs which acted as skids so they could be dragged wherever.

Happy days eh ? My grandfather once caught me throwing apples at his chicken's. Boy did i get a major ass chewing for that.

I built this chook shed with my daughter so she could see how simple it is to build a tiny home without getting ripped off.
Like you pointed out. If some government clown complains about an illegal residence you just tell em it's a chook shed !
Septic ? Easy. Three rotating 20 litre buckets in a ply box with a toilet seat and some wood shavings. Sorted.
It's come to that. I have people begging us to rent out to their kid's. It's very sad.

The chickens prefer our pancakes, beef curries, lamb roast and smoked silverside.
They love small snakes, mice and other critters when they can catch them.
Me ? I'm eyeing up the growing Bunny population in the gully. And it's open season on Deer downunder my friend.
