Screech owls are just about everywhere in the continental US, and my eldest daughter recently asked me if I could find the time to make her a screech owl nesting box. Sure enough, says I, and presto, here is today's project. These boxes are almost two feet high, with a 3" x 4" opening and a cleanout door on the side. I went a little above and beyond with the turned Shaker knobs of Brazilian cherry (jatoba). As usual, everything was more difficult than expected, but somehow I ended up with a pair of these owl houses. I plan to take one to our summer place in another month or so.
Cheers,
Ellis
