Have had a nice piece of olive ash laying around for years. Finally decided to make a key cabinet. When routing the handles for the drawers I made an error - therefore the cover up intarsia.....

#2Love it - can you describe wood selection here? Is it all olive ash? Looks like 2 types of wood to me - carcase vs door/drawer faces.

The wood is Scandinavian ash. On some older trees the heartwood turns darker and has often a vivid grain. An old sawmill owner claimed that ash trees that grows in sandy soil develop this. Since many years it has been my favourite wood and I have been driving around half of Sweden to lay my hands on them....
