I have been working on building cabinets for my house. I was going to make all the cabinets then do the foundational work. I smartened up and did the foundational work first. I just returned to making cabinets. Here are my first attempts. I have to figure out how to install the drawer fronts a little better. Also the paint process is not as bad this time, I used the shellac first so not as much bleed though. I will making the kitchen ones with maple instead of popular face frames.
I put these two on casters so I can use them to work on or move out of the way when not needed. They will be installed in my garage when I am done with the kitchen.

#2I love the color. I'm curious how you did the drawers. Are those frame and panel drawer fronts, and how are they attached to the drawer sides?

#3I made drawers that fit flush with the face frame then made a shaker panel to fit over the front. You can see in the background of the first picture the drawers. The next picture is the overlay panels. I used under drawer slides to mount the drawers to the cabinets.

Poplar is a great substrate but generally difficult to finish to look good. The wood's green and ultimately brown/yellow colors are so strong, they are difficult to hide. Excellent suggestion to use shellac to seal it up first. These cabinets are striking.
