First drawer base done

Edited #1

This was my practice piece trying to figure out how things go together.  I have been practicing spraying paint along with the build.  I haven't got the wood for the drawers yet, I will get it in the next few days.

I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to hold the face frame to the base before I glued it, and pocket holed screwed it.  I came up with this idea.

Thanks for the help

I have been on WC for a long time, like 50 years I think, but I tapered off visiting the site because of other interests and the site dynamics. I have over 40 years experience in kitchen cabinets and woodworking. Your build interests me but I may have missed previous posts of yours. I am interested in seeing your kitchen design mainly. If you wanted me to give you advise it would be free of charge.

Thanks.  This will be the first time I have built a full on set of cabinets.  My wife is still working on the design of the kitchen.

We are going to flip the kitchen from the front of the house to the rear.  Currently it is a sort of "L" shape.  She wants more of a galley style.  So before we do any work inside I taped off the floor in the design she thought she wanted.  We are changing things a little here and there.

I am doing some practice cabinets that will end up in the garage, I figure If I mess them up no one will notice in the garage.  Also she gets to figure out the style she wants before I have to much invested in time and money.

They are being built without a toe kick, I will make a 3/4 inch plywood four inch wide base then secure and level it.  The boxes will be placed on top and secured to it.

My next trick is drawer fronts and doors.  She wants Shaker Style which is easier for me, when she figures out which style shaker style she wants.

Thanks
