Humidor I am working on

I have been working on this humidor for awhile now. I am designing it on the fly, normally I plan ahead better. I think the top is too heavy for the box, I am going to cut down the offsets a little bit but basically I am going to roll with it because I have time invested. I wanted to do a coopered top. You can't see the screws very well but the top isn't glued to the stretchers, it is just held on with screws so it can move. All I have left to do now is install hinges and line it with spanish cedar.

The light colored wood is European Steamed Beech, we use it some at work and it is gorgeous.

@Moses Yoder, Do you smoke cigars? Can you make a humidor to store marijuana? A friend wants to know.

Make sure that you line it with the correct cedar. Years back my brother in law asked me to line his humidor with cedar. I went to Albert Constantine, and bought the cedar and lined the box. First smoke of one of his cigars made it obvious that something was wrong. I did some research and found out that the correct lining for a humidor is Spanish cedar. I redid the lining and everything was good.

Cool, Moses. Tell us about steamed beech. I've used steamed pear and it was beautiful, but I've never used steamed European beech.

The Beach has a nice golden cream color with small flecks on it. It works about the same as hard Maple, about same density. The wood we use is about the same cost as Walnut, not cheap, but that probably has more to do with importation costs. I have rown to love this wood and save scraps of it whenever I find them.
