Stuck in the jamb chuck?

Don't get caught in a jamb, jamb chuck that is. The jamb chuck that I'm using for this project has a thicker/wider rim area than one usually uses. Normally a tap or four on the rim will release the item. With the thick rim this doesn't work, DAMHIKT! Turning a hole in the center of the jamb chuck and then drilling in from the side to connect to the center hole allows for the use of compressed air to pop the item out of the recess. Drill a hole in the side that tightly fits your air nozzle. No fuss, muss or skinned knuckles. If the wood on the chuck is porous, coat it with a layer of thinned glue and let dry then resize the recess.

I've used that compressed air method but in a slightly different way.  I shoot the air through the hole in my hand wheel and through the spindle.  Just make sure you have a through hole in your jam chuck.  Also works with a vacuum chuck - i.e., a sphere (or other item) gets stuck when it is held near it's equator and can't be gripped to get it out. DAMHIKT.

I didn't think I was the first person to ever consider this, but was stuck (literally) and needed a quick solution. When I finally get a chance to install my vacuum system, I will definitely have an adaptor to allow for future access.

I suppose one could call the marks from the point of the skew chisel decoration, LOL
