My mental healing rides

I ride a lot of miles on the Rock Island Trail north of Peoria. I always stop at this section north of Princeville and enjoy the bird songs and beauty of the maple canopy. Anyone else ride converted rail trails? I ride this Fat Tad recumbent with electric assist. Two battery packs on the side frames I welded up with EMT conduit. With this style trike I can enjoy the scenery as I ride with less concern for balance. And once I want to stop, that seat is like a lawn chair. Perfect gravel vehicle!

Envious

Wow, Dick, nice ride. We still provide the legpower, but we've ridden rail trails in Jim Thorpe, PA,  St. Petersburg, FL, Springfield Township,  PA, Hudson, OH, and elsewhere. I'd like to visit that trail that Bill Tindall built in Tennessee someday.

Thanks for the reminder of great getaways.

Re: Envious

I pedal too. I use the assist for hill climbing, head winds, and the main reason is to ride longer and faster. I have a couple more assist bicycles and will have biked and triked more than 15,000 miles since I started in May 2016. My favorite adventure is to ride north out of Alton, IL in the fall. White limestone cliffs along the Mississippi River covered with hard maples. The color is just glorious. This was my return trip and the lighting from the low sun was perfect for the color.
