HVAC advice needed

Any opinions on the above? The specs don't seem realistic to me. How can a heat pump work down to -22?

Sure seems counter-intuitive alright. No expert but apparently it can because of improved technology but I'd say it's efficiency is getting very low at that terminal temperature. They compare the energy extracted/energy input to get a COP number and if it's above 1 then the heat pump is generating heat but maybe not that much. Ignoring the installation cost, the real $$$ saving needs to be calculated based on the electricity cost of running the pump vs the cost of the alternative energy you would use instead. Also, the heat produced by the heat pump is low temperature heat so you don't feel the warm air you get from a regular furnace when it is running.

Yeah, I had a heat pump in Nort NJ...once it got to 20F it was not working...at 30F it wasn't working very well..40F it was ok.
