You can usually pick up a really great old saw for about 60 bucks  (40 US, and they show for free).  I have owned 4 of them, and prefer them for home shop use.  Unfortunately I have lost several to floods.  The only reason I would run one of those contractor saws (unless I was actually a contractor, would be if weight was a major issue.  And it is for me due to the floods.

I really like the Rockwell, or Beaver, 9" saw with the contractor or cabinetmaker base.  Or the Pointras 1300 is a tank.


 

I have at least 30 stationary power tools in my shop.  I can buy whatever I want and currently have an Inca for my moveable saw.  But if you are on a budget, you can certainly find something nice.
