Play Time! I had signed up for a class with Barbara Dill.........

.......this summer at Arrowmont, but all wood classes were cancelled due to replacement of the wood studio roof. I was inspired by a piece Barbara displayed at the recent AAW Symposium, so dug up some of my dusty old work from many years ago and quickly realized I couldn't remember the progression for cuts? Consulted Barbara's book, the light bulb came on , and back to the lathe! I will need mucho practice, but think I can refine the process now.

I highly recommend Barbars's excellent book.

Even if you think you're not interested in multi-axis spindle work, after paging and reading through it you might change your mind.

Her book is a great resource. It makes multiaxis spindle turning comprehensible. I also had signed up for her class and was really disappointed when it was cancelled.

More practice today, spindle on L has 2 full rotations...

and I don't recommend using Black Locust for practice wood!

Nice work, Jamie! Multi axis work is always a fun and sometimes exciting time in the shop.A real bummer that the class was canceled, and a shame that Barbara doesn't visit this forum anymore.
