Mystery Grain pattern

Here is a Brazilian Rosewood pot I turned this past weekend, sanding and finish revealed this mystery spider web pattern unlike anything I have ever seen before. This wood chunk has grain going in several directions, but this pattern has no relation to the wood grain orientation under it?

Looks like you have the outer remnant of a knot or injury.  Does it show on the inside wall as well?

This web pattern was not visible on the inside, but appears in a lesser fashion on the opposite exterior.

Humm, I haven’t ever seen that either, but I’ve only worked with that species in veneers. However to me, it appears to be some sort of medullary fleck somewhat like in cherry, which shows up there only on a QS face. But here, it’s on endgrain, and seems to be organized in bands longitudinally, and the cells maybe more cylindrical rather than flat, but still radiating from the pith.

Another thing I see is two sets of lines that one normally associates with annual rings. The fine lighter ones look like terminal parenchyma lines, but then there may be two dark, almost black lines between those parenchyma lines. Since this, I suppose grew in the tropics, the seasons aren’t delineated the same as we have at higher latitudes.
